Phase 1.5 VTS track car & Picasso 1.8 SX

« on: April 26, 2009, 11:18:09 AM »

Well, at last, here's a brief history:

Back in the summer of 2004 I fell in love. I bought my first VTS in gorgeous Posideon blue. smitten
Mods were subtle, debadged grille, uprated brakes, Toyo Proxes tyres all round, Powerflow exhaust. K&N Induction kit & strut brace. Pulled 187 BHP on the rollers on two seperate occassions at two different locations.
It was in mint condition, but eventually, i had to sell to make way for a family car.

Then, in April 2008, after constant peer pressure (all my mates have track cars) I had enough cash to buy a 2nd car. It had to be a VTS again. So after searching high and low, I found this little gem.
And the first thing i done was service it, then take it to the Nurburgring  Grin, where it was spot on, even in standard form.

And so the summer of 2008 was here, albeit late, and lasting about 10 minutes! I began to get her track prepared. First job was to uprate the brakes. Brembo grooved discs all round, with Ferodo DS2500 on the front, and standard pads on the rear. Wheels were dressed in Toyo Proxes.

I believe mods should go in this order, a good thing to bear in mind i think:
  • Brakes & tyres
    Suspension
    Engine

Then a  roll cage came up for sale on here, and eventually got it fitted Dec 08

Yes and no - If i'd have kept it, i would never have stripped it as it was to good to butcher, would have probably got leather and improved engine power.
With VTS number 2 I plan to take it to Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Nurburgring, Spa, etc etc, so it will probaably get a few knocks and scrapes.

Yeah i'm pleased with it, pain in the arse to fit it all though  Grin

Next little job, i want a shorter aerial, but due to its fitment (it's not a screw-in jobbie, but a hinge/swivel one) my searches have been unsuccessful. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket aerial that have the same fitment?
