which way do you put your key in?

has anyone else noticed that if you put your key in so that the fob hangs down when the ignition is on, you can quite easily switch the engine off with your knee? since the first couple of times i got in my gold VTS i've always inserted the key the other way up, so it sticks straight out  O0

There really ought to be a witty comeback there, but .............................  I can't think of one at present. :(

Oddly after nearly ten years of Xsara ownership for some odd reason last weekend I put my key in that way,and thought oh I have never done that before it makes all the keys hang down.
What the hell just happened? now I have got two.

well if you hold the key in your right hand and open the blade with your thumb, it's naturally in the right position, but if for instance you've picked it up already open, you could put it in any way.

And you need to push the button in to fold the PH2 key blade :)

I used to be picky about the way I put the key in when I had a C5. I use the rigid one in my racer as the CL has been removed.

I do exactly the same with mine.

I make the missus do the same too. Not because her knees have any chance of getting anywhere near the key, just because it bugs me.

yeah i don't fancy the thought of suddenly losing power steering and brake servo at high speed on a country lane

That's why I use only the "spare" on the race car, plus the CL is disconnected anyway, now I have a road car with working remote I need to bear this in mind... no issues when driving home.
