Accident damage advice.

Captain Slow:
If a car is written off by the insurance company (Cat D or C) it has to have an engineers report done on it, its like a hardcore MOT. Once it passes that it then has to be MOT'd. Only then is it legal to put a written off car back on the road.

In this case, your car hasn't been written off, so in theory you could just fix the damage and continue driving it, without having to have it MOT'd till the next time it's due. I'm sure people do, but personally, I wouldn't be happy driving a car with that much damage without it being checked by the correct people. You say that it has had previous damage too, so in this case I think I would be scrapping or breaking the car.

The Wrinkly Ninja:
Given its previous, that's exactly what I would do. You wouldn't want the responsibility of someone's life, particularly your own family, I'd imagine.

mcjordi:
the front panel and wings are welded on the fiesta mk4/5
if its not written off then theres no VIC check to do.

however when lads over on UKFN bang up their fiestas they tend to bolt on new wings etc not weld em on  O0

The Badger:
I have helped a mate fix 2 written off Fiesta's in the past. Both with front end damage. The 2nd one we did ended up being straighter than the one I had (which had never had a knock). That was before I stuffed it in a ditch (still passed 2 mot's after and all I did was bolt on a new bumper. Mind you the rad mount went through the bumper so the legs were knackered but it passed no probs. Only got scrapped when the engine went. If you have the time and space to do it, I would be tempted to do fix it up. Depends on mileage as well. My mates 2nd one was 5 years old and only on 23K when he brought it so it was worth repairing. Also his current car is the only complete car he has ever brought.  :2funny:
