Oh No!
« on: April 30, 2012, 11:07:36 am »
Just when my P1 2.0 HDI was running well, the cat has snapped exhaust pipe, at the cat, has snapped! Been quoted from £300-400 from Kwik Fit (no mates rates there) to £66 for a new one on e-bay!

Remove it, diesels don't need a cat to pass the MOT and it shouldn't cost too much for someone to fabricate a suitable pipe.

Correct. Anyway, should you still want to keep one, you can get a perfectly good one from various places - try Buypartsby for a start.

They have one suitable for a pre-2001 HDi for 50  quid + VAT + postage. You'll have to fit t yourself, of course.

Whatever, never buy exhausts from Thick-Twit.

As I understand it, any car that should have had a Cat fitted when it was made, but has had it removed, will fail the new MOT when it starts being enforced.
