Service questions for HDI 90
« on: April 24, 2012, 09:14:45 pm »
So, my HDI 90 '04 requires a service. The first service in my ownership and currently on 70k miles.

I have read the service book on what's required but there are some questions:
What is Eolys fluid?
1. At 80k it says I need a partical filter (PAF) what and where is this? Do I have to change it?
2. What coolant type is required?
3. What type of synthetic brake fluid is required?
4. Where is the fuel filter located and is there any special bleeding method?

Cheers!

You dont have Eolys fluid or a particle filter (FAP/DPF) so dont worry about that.

Where did you get this info from? They don't have particle filters.

Generic coolant is fine, nothing special required unlike the newer commonrails.

Brake fluid again, normal grade is fine. Dot 4 etc.

Fuel filter is located in a black housing at the front of the block (obviously under the cover). The lids are on tight and turn anticlockwise to gain access into.

All HDIs are self bleeding. So once the filter is replaced, simply start the ignition a few times in a row (without actually starting the engine) and itll bleed itself. I'd say 10 times and then crank her up.

Brilliant, thanks.

I read through the confusing service manual and I thought it wasn't clear if I had these things.

Thats not quite right, some of the later 90bhp models have a Siemens injetion system which has no electric pump in the tank. If its the Siemens system it will have a hand primer bulb to the left of the filter (as you are looking from under the bonnet) you will need to pump that for about 20 seconds to prime the system after changing the fuel filter.
