The weather was finally good enough to let me service the car today. Why place the oil filter in that ridiculous position where it's hard to get to and leaks oil all over the place??? Anyway, all done and fuel filter changed too.

I had a go at testors EGR delete (blanking) method while I had the car on the ramps. I have to say that getting the allen bolts out was easy but bending the tube out the way wasn't easy and even harder to put back. I replaced the thin metal gasket with a piece of alluminium as there wasn't enough space to get the klinger-sil in there. I've lost most of the skin on my knuckles getting the bolts back in! We'll see if it improves things.

Ebay supplied the Quartz 9000 at a very reasonable price  O0

MPG's not improved after service, but then again I've not done a full tank yet.

Just picked up some new front discs from Eurocarparts with DP30 discount code 30% off. They must be the 266mm rather than the 283mm right? I hope the pads are one size (right size) that I bought a couple of weeks ago...

Floyd:
Discs weren't correct as they had a different off set. grr. It took a lot of beating to get the old discs off, as they were welded to the hubs. I took the discs back to ECP but they charged me 20% service charge. More grrr. Over 30 days since purchase, you see...

Anyway, after fitting the front discs they were bedded in but a horrid grinding sound became apparent... Oh well, just give them some stick and hope it gets better. It didn't and the noise was accompanied with vibration. Upon checking the fronts discs all looked fine but the rear were shot. Very.

New rear discs and pads solved the problem and the brakes feel great all round now.
