Car insurance claims history

(1/1)

J-Man:
I had a non fault claim (hit by third party in the rear).  Firstly, on a quote it asks me "total cost of own damage?" and then "total cost of third party damage?"  I don't have a clue what his damage cost but i know what my damage came too.  Do i just fill the first box in? Also, it asks if "it was under this policy?" It was when i was with endsleigh 2 years ago so technically it was a different policy, but was when i was insured on my own personal car. Any ideas whether i tick yes or no?

Any help appreciated :)

nath:
i had a similar claim this year when some bell end ruined my bike for me...

I just put the cost of the bike payout down, as for third party - best guess mate, you wouldn't know anyway surely! It wont affect your insurance cost anyway as its non fault...

although you'll still get your pants pulled firmly down  ^-^

The Wrinkly Ninja:
Just put your own costs - it's not your responsibility to know the other party's. Make sure you note that all your damages were reimbursed - I'm assuming they were.

Was it under this policy? Well, was it? No, it was under another policy.

maf91:
You could contact the insurer and ask for this figure. Failing that, just put unknown for the third party damage.

Be aware though- just cos it was non-fault doesn't mean your insurance won't go up :/
You may not have lost any no-claims etc, but your 'risk rating' will as you have had a claim of some description. Of course its not anywhere near as big a loading of the premium as if you had been at fault, but its still a factor considered.

J-Man:
It does put it up - even though it was non fault and ALL cost were reimbursed. Sods. Their definition of under this policy was 'under the most recent policy'.
