P1801 error code
« on: June 02, 2011, 01:15:29 pm »
Hi all,

Me again. I went down to my independant garage today (they are a Citroen specialist though) to ask about the ongoing air-bag problem I have. They plugged in the diagnostic computer (for free O0) and it showed:

P1801  Air-bag first stage ignitor
&
P1802 Air-bag second stage ignitor

Is this likely to be the com2000 (again) or the air-bag itself?

Whats the history of the fault as you said com2000 again ?
I would say if it's come up with both those faults then it would be a faulty com2000 rather than the bag.
If you have fitted a new com2000 & it's failed again then there is likely to be a problem with the wiring to the comms unit.
Does your specialist guy have a 'dummy' airbag tool set ? this can test the airbag, comms unit & wiring in no time.

The air-bag wasn't "New", it was an eBay item from a 2010 206. It worked fine for about 2 weeks and then started to come on. It did go off one day and whilst the ignition was on I giggled the wires underneath the seats & moved them back and forth. The light only came on again when I turned the wheel, so it seems like a new com2000 is in order.

Just wanted to make sure because a new one is around ?300!
