new head unit keeps beeping!

hi all im new to the site, got a little 1.4!!  when i baught the car it had no head unit it in, so ive just baught a standard cd player just fitted it and everything works ok ( but i havent tryed a cd yet) but over the radio it keeps beeping all the time and it wont stop what ever i do. any body else had this proplem? or is it a dodgy head unit any help greatly recieved cheers chris

No, it's fine. It just needs to be coded to the car - it's a security device to stop anyone nicking something that no-one in his right mind would want to nick anyway.
